Default Books and broker

There are many good books, however I would recommend you start with some more "generic" trading books if you are new to trading. Dr. Elder has some good ones.

With regards to a broker, there is really no pure non dealing desk retail broker... At least no reliable ones I know of.. So far I've used GFT and they've been quite ok, but there are countless more..

Default Brokers

Ray, hello; if you have the Juice, CurreneX is the way to go. So find a broker that has access to CurreneX. Butttttt, here are some things to look out for.

1. Usually, if you don't have at least 100k you will get dynamic spreads, but there will also be a pip premium added on top, and you will not see the true spread. It might be 2 pips or so wider, so the 100k is important, maybe 80k if you whine enough.

2. If you are not executing at least 1m, the banks will not execute against you, and your trades will be filled by your white label provider/broker or another trader on the CurreneX, banks usually do not execute less the 1m.

3. Before sending your money, make sure that you clearly understand Point #1, and also find out who are the liquidity providers, get the broker to email a complete list to you.

The cost without adding any pips is usually 50 to 60 bucks per Million. Pretty cheap for a pro platform. It has no bells and whistles, but it is blazing fast.

The ever helpful PITVIPER

As an ex stock trader, I can definately say that forex is more exciting and challanging for me. In some way I saw it as a progression; I liked trading stocks and at the moment I find forex much more rewarding but challanging at the same time. Anyway, I love challenges - makes me feel alive

I don't think you can say that one can be/is more profitable that the other. If you get good at it, I'm sure both can be just as profitable as the other. Depends what you like.

Sometimes though, I wonder about people who jump straight into forex and have no knowledge or clue of markets, economics, fundamentals that you tend to pick up in share trading and analyzing what moves stocks apart from technical analysis. I think that is very important in forex trading, seeing the big picture and all.

Default my favoritie forex ebook

Hi, I just want to contribute my favorite ebook to this thread.

I learned everything I know about forex trading from the Day Trade Forex team.

I started with their beginner's course and then I bought the Advanced course. They also have a euro fractal course that is really advanced. but for most people who have some basic forex trading experience, the advanced course is the best. you can check it out here: http://www.daytradeforex.com/advanced.htm

Oh, and they recommend and use CMS-forex, which I have learned to love...as they have automated trading systems that the advanced course teaches you how to use.

Happy Trading! Moneybunny

Default A book that works for me....

I have two books that I rely on quite a bit. One is a Technical Analysis book on patterns, trendlines, etc. (there are a billion of them out there) and Raghee Horner's first book, "Forex Trading For Maxium Profit".

Her book is somewhat simplistic, but combining that with Daily Pivot Points (do google search, info is easy to find.) and money management, I have had 4 profitable weeks in a row. This is only my 4th month trading Forex, so I am very happy about this.

One thing you may or may not read oftern is not too trade too much. Since I started to slow down and put serious thought into it, my trading has gotten so much better than I ever imagined.

While I found her book works for me, you have to try several systems to be honest, and make them your own. Most systems work given a chance, but you have to find one that suits your personality.

I know someone else who does well trading using the "1 hour vegas tunnel", neither are better, but I can't trade that one, I am not patient enough it seems. :-)

Just my 3 pips.....(2 isn't enough!)

How about trying out Bird watching Lion Country ebook..

Forex trading is like bird watching in lion country. If you don't know what you are doing you end up being someone else's meal.

Happy trading everyone!
